I have been helping out Jim Wills of the Memotech MTX community with game concepts that he has wanted to be brought to life since back when the Memotech MTX was released (see our other collaboration, Asteroid Rescue, for his other graphic and game design work).
Pot Hole Pete was heavily inspired by Manic Miner and was released on cassette for the Memotech MTX computers back in the day.
Jim has revisited his original graphics, adding enhancements now that he understands more of the capabilities of the graphics chip.
In addition, he has added extra levels (there are now 32!), and I have been programming the mechanics of the game from scratch.
Most of the engine is complete, bar a few bugs. See the short video snippet below for a bit of gameplay (Note: I have the collision detection with the Meanies turned off)
We will start gameplay testing shortly, and should have this game ready to release at the same time as Asteroid Rescue – I will share box art when we get a chance to put a design together.
We, of course, plan to release it for Colecovision, MSX, Spectravideo, Sega SG-1000 and Memotech MTX.
